Reporting to our Director of Engineering, the Java Developer will be responsible for the analysis, architecture, design, and programming deliverables. He/She will be expected to co-ordinate efforts with development teams and subject matter experts within Veryon and our customers and partners as well as deliver technology solutions with high standards and quality. 

Must-Have Technical Skills:  

Java, Relational Database (MariaDB preferred), Java Spring Boot, RESTful API 

Nice-to-Have Technical Skills: 

JPA/Hibernate, Apache Solr, Apache Camel, Angular 14+ 

What You’ll Accomplish - Your Performance Objectives 

Objective #1:   

Within your first 30 days, work with the development team to build an understanding of the existing applications and development frameworks at Veryon  

• Build and set up your local development environment for Veryon Diagnostics 

• Demonstrate knowledge and capability in the use of existing tools and technologies  

Objective #2:  

Within your first 60 days, work with the Development Manager and DevOps to fix current defects and/or make minor enhancements to the applications and deploy/run current projects in the development environment  

• Start working closely with the product team and subject matter experts to understand customer needs, business requirements, and translate them into technology solutions.  

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the applications design and framework by executing against a pipeline of requests for additional changes, enhancements, and bug fixes.  

• Demonstrate ability to work with Quality Assurance analysts to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance of production requirements, design, and implementation  

• Develop new unit tests to further ensure code quality through automation  

Objective #3:  

Within your first 90 days, demonstrate ability to meet goals and timelines defined in Objective #2 and be able to work on new features for Veryon Diagnostics  

• Move at least one bug and/or story through development, QA, UAT and live in Production 

• Attend to all JIRA tasks appropriately, collaborating with QA, DevOps and Product. 

• Maintain wiki pages in Confluence relevant to changes
